The agritourism Le Cannelle is a labour of love for the land and the territory where it is situated. It was founded in 2000 by Roberto Candeo who intended to invest in an old family homestead to continue an old and fascinating tradition. When the old farm first came into the posession of his parents - a young married couple - it was largely uncultivated and in need of strong hands to transform the land into a fertile breeding ground that was able to give good results to help the family. Over the years we switched to mechanization to increase the production of grain, we established vinyards and olive groves, and we raised cattle, and all these products found consumers. But the lack of efficient agricultural policies and the price collapse in the nineties lead us to enquire into other possibilites for the farm, such as novel incentives, in order to avoid the temptation to abandon the old family tradition, like so many others. Therefore we invested in the transformation of some of the older, unused rooms, into beautiful apartments to rent to tourists. We started with one and that grew to three in only five years. Continuous improvements have also been made since such as a swimmingpool near the farmhouse that boasts a beautiful view of the Pisan hills. We also changed over to organic farming - products cultivated without chemical treatments - and now our guests are also free to get to know and appreciate our products as they grow. This is a brief history of the origins of the agritourism Le Cannelle, the evolution of the well known farming business with the same name.
